Waterproof sun sails |
||
The widespread belief to possess a waterproof sun sail is often created by manufacturer‘s remarks such as water-repellant or water-resistant. Usually all fabrics which are used for outdoor sun protection systems are equipped with a water-repelling surface, however, not only to protect the underlying area from water but also to make the fabric easier to clean. (Sonnenschutzanlagen, Textilien) Of course a water-repellant sun sail equipped with an adequately dense fabric structure can serve as a protection from soft rains or a short rainfall. If, however, a larger amount of water gathers on the sail it will not take long and it starts dripping. By a certain tilt angle an accumulation of water can be prevented and the water-repellant properties of the sun sail can be supported if the water is allowed to drain fast.(Sonnensegel, Stoffbahnen) Real waterproof sun sails may of course also be purchased. The possess a waterproof PVC coating which makes the sun sail rather look like a tarp and takes away a lot of its airy character. (Gewebestruktur, Regenschutz, Wasseransammlungen) Waterproof sun sails do not only prevent rain water but wind as well. They provide a large surface and can quickly tear off from the fixing if sudden strong winds occur. This is why large waterproof sun sails do not make much sense when used in the rain. This is the same for awnings but these may at least be rolled in. (Windböen, Regenwasser) For the normal use on the terrace or garden water-repellant and breathable sun sails are a better alternative. For outdoor and camping fans who appreciate staying outside in every kind of weather rain-proof tarps and sun sails should be a basic part of the equipment. These may be installed on demand and in the appropriate device. (Terrasse, Garten, Wetter, Vorrichtungen) |
